Week 5: Facial Expression Assignment - Happiness

1. What is role does facial expression play in reading behavior and in your character analysis sequence?

Facial expression is just as important as body language for conveying and displaying personal emotions within a social situation and are essential for social interaction. 

2.  Are facial expressions consistent with body language?

Yes, very much so.


3.  What is the most common facial expression that your character expresses in the character analysis?       

Every time she smiles. 


  1. Happiness seems like the perfect expression for my character analysis sequence.  Notice the lovestruck expression on her face as she eagerly watches and waits for her egg sandwich order. The excitement continuously builds up until Sal finally delivers her the sandwich. 

 






She is completely enamored. Completely hyperfixated. This sandwich is a way of her new life, her new freedom, her new independancy. With her hands on the side of her face, her eyes full of passion, slowly opening her mouth, ready to taste her meal.

While the story is simple, it birthed the creation of the bouncing lamp which would later earn its spot as the Pixar logo. Gesture Analysis - Individual Assignment

The Harley Quinn Gesture Analysis  Harley Quinn is on a mission. Under a death threat, she becomes an unstoppable not-so-killing machine. This stance and gesture when she makes her entrance to the Gotham police station signifies her newfound confidence, heavily driven by motivation to show not just to Roman Sionis but to everyone else in Gotham that she is no longer bound to the Joker.  She is no longer insecure or heavily reliant or heavily dependant on the Joker. Here she is literally a one-woman army, on her own, with a new purpose. To save herself. She is done waiting to be rescued. The way she confidently holds her "fun gun". In this scene she doesn't even kill anyone, she purposely modified a grenade launcher to shoot confetti, glitter, powder bombs, and small bean bags.  Even when her life is threatened, she maintains her humorous side by personalizing this weapon with her own motifs.
